Crocker Pond Recreation hours announced

The Crocker Pond Recreation Area will open for its second season on Saturday, May 26, 2007.

The recreation and pond will be open weather permitting to town residents from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3. Following that the park will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Saturday, Sept. 8 through Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 8.

Residents may pick up their recreation area permits at the town hall beginning Tuesday, April 17. There is no charge for the permits.

The town is planning a beach cleanup / setup day on Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rain date is Saturday, May 19. Volunteers are needed and should b r i n g r a k e s , s h o v e l s , and any other lands c a p i n g tools that will facilitate the clean up work.

Du r i n g the 2007 season, the recreation area will in need of volunteers from the town to greet residents and their guests and to check permits. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Senior citizens who qualify for the property tax work off program can receive tax credits for time volunteered at the recreation area.
