Committee to seek about $599,000 for new station

      The Public Safety Committee is asking selectmen to recommend that annual town meeting voters approve approximately $599,000 of new borrowing for the public safety building project. The option would not require a tax increase beyond that which would be covered under the Proposition 2 1/2 limit.

Selectmen hold off on school budget recommendation

      The selectmen finished their multi-week review of the annual town meeting on Tuesday during a special meeting. The board didn't take a position on the article asking voters to approve an override to help fund a gap in the school budget because final numbers were not available.

Local parish to offer spring giveaway
      St. Denis Parish will offer its First Annual Spring Give-Away. Grand prize is $10,000; second through eleventh prizes of $250. Drawing date is June 2. Limit of 300 tickets to be sold.
