Ashby Police arrest two for stealing tools The Police Department arrested two men for stealing tools from a storage trailer at a truck body company on Sunday, April 29. Police found the alleged thieves lying underneath a storage trailer at J.C. Madigan, a truck body company on Fitchburg State Road/Route 31, according to a press release. An officer responded to the company's property after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle on the property around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Ashby officer responded, and was assisted by members of the Townsend Police Department, when they found a pick-up truck with property inside it belonging to JC Madigan's. The officers searched the area and finding and arresting two men. A father and son - Edward Allen Spaulding, 42, of Leominster, and Scott Edward Spaulding, 22, of Winchendon - were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property over $250, possession of burglarious instruments, breaking and entering of a trailer, and larceny from a trailer. The Police are working with J.C. Madigan's to improve their security. "This is an excellent example of how we can control crime when the community and police cooperate," said Police Chief Paul Lundin. |
