James E. Blood Jr., 90
Worked as a tool and die maker; enjoyed traveling

LEOMINSTER - James E. Blood Jr., 90, of 1160 Main St., died Feb. 7, 2007, at the Keystone Center, after a brief illness.

Born in Boston, he lived in Milton for 57 years. He was the husband of the late Caroline P. (Werner) Blood who died in 1979 they were married for 39 years. They had three children; he was predeceased by a son, James E. Blood III, of Milton and a daughter Barbara P. Latture of Marshfield. He was married to Dorothy (Boyle) Blood who died in 1982; they were married for 16 years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Parish in Milton. Mr. Blood moved to Leominster Crossings in 1999, and had lived at the Keystone Center since December 2002.

He served in the Massachusetts National Guard for three years. He worked as a tool and die maker at Merriman Brothers, Instron Corporation and Ark-Les Switch Corporation. He had been retired since age 62. During his retirement he enjoyed daily walks, traveling and visiting his extended family.

Survivors include his son, Donald of Westminster, and his grandchildren, Bryan J. Blood of Westminster, Darren L. Blood of Warner, N.H., Stephen Latture of North Carolina, Patricia McIlvaine of South Royalton, Vt.; his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Nathan, Meghan, and Owen Blood, and Benjamin McIlvaine; five sisters, Eileen Chitro of North Beverly, Barbara King of Braintree, Jeanne Swensen of Nampa, Idaho, Lorraine DeSimone of Bar Harbor, Maine and Patricia Reagan of Chatham; and many nieces, and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church St., Westminster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, P.O. Box 96305, Washington, D.C. 20090-6305 in his name. The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St., Westminster, is assisting the family with arrangements.
