Overlook track teams speeding through season

Both the Boys' and Girls' track teams at Overlook Middle School started the season strong with resounding wins over Gardner in the cold and the rain on Wednesday, April 25.

The top scorer for the boys was Ben Gagne who won all of his three events - the high jump, the long jump and a near record performance in the 400 meters - Dan O'Connell also had a near record performance winning the 200 meters. He also won the 100 meters. Also winning their events for the boys were Christian Robichaud in the mile; Ian Moulton in the 800 meters; Jon Levesque in the shot put; Matt Mazyck in the discus. Scoring points for the boys were Josh Eisolinis, David Watkins, Jean Luc Bergeron, Brendon Walsh, Mike Hiltz, J. Pippert, Calvin Young, Derrick Andrews, Ben Wessels, Richard Lowe and Eric Lafferty.

Colin Smith, Robin Murray Troy Richards also had strong performances.

For the girls, Brittany Logan was the top girls' performer by winning both the 100 meter dash and hurdles. Also winning for the Lady Eagles were Whitney Chaplin in the long jump, Molly McCormack in the high jump, Krysta Zbikowski in the mile, Jennifer Burke in the 400 meter dash and Brianna Baril in the 200 meter dash. Also scoring points for the girls were Colleen Mulligan, Liz Langelier, Karrin Phelps, C. Goodale, Chelsea Lahtinen, Casey Chisolm.

The Overlook boys track team ran past Quabbin on Thursday, May 3, by the score of 47 to 29 to up their record to two wins.

Dan O'Connell was the top point scorer for the boys with three wins - the long jump, the 100 and 200 meter dashes. John Levesque won his two events - the shot put and the discus. Also winning for the boys' were Ben Gagne in the 400 meters and the relay team of Steve Streeks, Brendan Walsh, Mike Hiltz and Ben Gagne. Also scoring points for the boys' were Matt Mazyck, Eric Lafferty, Eric Moulton, Christian Robichaud, Matt Pinault and Colin Smith.

The girls lost to a strong Quabbin team.

Winning for the girls were Whitney Chaplin in the long jump, Liz Langelier in the discus, Brittany Logan in the hurdles and Jennifer Burke in the 400 meters. Also scoring points for the girls were Krysta Zbikowski, Molly McCormack and Colleen Mulligan.

The boys and girls track teams both won against Ssawyer Middle School on Monday. For the third time this season Dan O'Connell won all three of his events: the 100 and 200 meter dashes and the long jump. John Levesque won both the shot put and the discus. Also winning events were Brendan Walsh in the hurdles, Mike Hiltz in the high jump, Eric Moulton in the 800 meters, Christian Robichaud in the mile and Ben Gagne in the 400 meters. Also scoring points for the boys Were Steve Streeks, Colin Smith, Matt Mazyck, Eric Lafferty, Matt Pippert and Calvin Young. Also performing well for the boys were Robin Murray, Jake Zagwyn, Ben Weiderman, Ethan Barrows, Jean Luc Bergeron, Brandon Alicea, Josh Eisolinis, David Murray Raimon, Matt Robilard, Steve Hilton and Keith Mclaughlin. The relay team had their best time.

The Girls Track Team won their second meet of the season. Liz Langelier and Whitney Chaplin both won two events. Liz in the shot put and discus and Whitney in the long jump and 100 meters. Also winning for the girls were Brittany Logan in the hurdles, Colleen Mulligan in the 800 meters and Molly McCormack in the 400 meters. Also scoring points for the girls' were Karin Phelps, Lindsay Snyder, Chelsea Lahtinen, Krysta Zbikowski, Anna Porpora, Rachel Quaye and Brianna Baril. Also performing well were Lisa Mann, Emly Brutran, Jessie Maeder, Emily Durkin and Rachel Ray. The relay team also won.
