Laying the ground work

Workers layout the strips of turf for the new synthetic multi-purpose field behind Oakmont Regional High School on Tuesday, May 22. About 60 percent of the turf was laid out by the end of the day, said Superintendent of Schools Michael Zapantis, but he added that the real time consuming work would be to "glue" it in place. The entire process will take about nine to 10 days and the goal is to have it finished by graduation on Sunday, June 3. The old ground was torn-up in Decemeber so the dirt had a chance to settle before the turf was positioned.
