Ashburnham Seniors News The Ashburnham Council on Aging (COA) provides numerous services for the senior citizens in town, most at little or no cost. The Ashburnham Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located on 1 Memorial Drive in the same building as, and next to, the Ashburnham Police Department. All Ashburnham senior citizens are welcome to drop in. They have a lot of information that you might find of interest and you may have a good time just getting together for a cup of coffee and a chat. The following are some of the services / activities available at the Senior Center: Meals-on-Wheels are available to those unable to get out. MOC Nutrition Lunch Meals are served at noon. You must reserve the day before by calling the meal-site at (978) 827-5735. Cost of meals is a donation of $2. If you need transportation, call (978) 827-5000. Transportation on the senior van costs $0.25 each stop in-town and $0.50 each way to Fitchburg or Gardner. Additional activities include: lunch, bingo, arts & crafts, Forever Young Club meetings and events, line dancing, speakers, blood pressure clinics, exercise and the Tax- Work-Off Program. Information is available to seniors and their families on a number of topics. Referral to other agencies and services is provided as needed. For more information, contact Mary Lee Muesel at (978) 827-5000. Center activities for the Month of June The Forever Young Club will meet on Monday, June 4, with lunch at noon. Beef steak, scalloped potatoes, onions and peppers, hamburger bun and unsweetened applesauce will be served. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. A donation of $2 is requested for lunch. Reservations requested. Rachel Brown from Legal Assistance Corporation of Central MA will present "Legal Aid for Senior Issues" at noon Tuesday, June 5. An Intermediate Computer Class will be held on Wednesdays, June 6, June 13, and 20. No cost to Ashburnham seniors and guests. An Adult Wellness Clinic, in partnership with the Nashoba VNA, will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 12. Seniors may have their blood pressure checked as well as ask questions regarding health issues and concerns. Anyone over 55 can participate in this program. A special Father's Day and Memorial Day Celebration will be held at noon, Thursday, June 14. Roast beef au jus, baked potato, summer blend vegetable, and butterscotch pudding for dessert will be served. A donation of $2 is requested. A Strawberry Festival will be held at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, June 21. Donation is $1. Lunch will be served at noon and includes roasted chicken w/piccata sauce, brown rice and Italian-style vegetables. Donation is $2. A Podiatry Clinic will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 22. Dr. Ayleen Gregorian will clip toenails, remove calluses and check for overall health of your feet. Cost is $10. A Pot Luck Dinner will be served at noon, Friday, June 22. Cost to seniors is to bring your own special dish. Pizza and Bingo For A Buck will be held at noon, Tuesday, June 26.
