Teachers encourage voters to support override

To the Editor:

As teachers in the Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District, we feel it is important to get the word out concerning the upcoming Proposition 2 1/2 override vote. With the passing of an override, our school district will remain level funded. This simply means that we will continue with services that we have had during the 2006/2007 school year. However, due to increased energy costs, health care costs, and building needs we require funds in addition to the amount of state funding. We are not requesting any additional staff or programs this is merely to remain at the level we are currently at. It would be devastating to our district to regress instead of moving forward as we have done in the past few years. We hope that you will consider voting in favor of an override to support our schools so we can continue with the quality education we provide.
