VFW to hold flag disposal ceremony

Douglas E. Hicks VFW will hold an unserviceable flag disposal ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the VFW, located on Eaton Street, Westminster. Anyone having an unserviceable flag that they would like to have honorably retired and properly destroyed is asked to bring their flag at this time. Unserviceable flags may also be dropped off at the Post or given to a Cub Scout prior to the June 14 ceremony.

Registration to begin for summer recreation and swim programs

The Westminster Summer Recreation & Swim program signups are taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 6, 7, 13 and 14 at the Meetinghouse School. These free programs are offered to all Westminster children who are registered for kindergarten in the fall through those children who will be going into the seventh grade. The Recreation program runs Monday, July 9 through Friday, Aug. 17. Swim lessons will take place at Mount Wachusett Community College the weeks of July 16, July 30 or Aug. 6, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between noon and 2:30 p.m. If you have any questions please contact Laura Delorey (978) 874-5868.

Reservations being taken for financial workshop

"Solving Income, Financial and Emotional Independence Needs" will be presented from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Westminster Senior Center, located at the American Legion Hall, 127 Main St. This is a financial workshop for ages 50 and over. The event includes a catered dinner, a question and answer period, and a special door prize drawing. Reservations needed by June 6. For information, or to make reservations, call (978) 874- 7402.

New members welcomed to join Circle of Artists

Circle of Artists, a group of aspiring artists from Westminster and surrounding communities, meets twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall/Westminster Senior Center, 127 Main St., Westminster.

Members of this group explore art in a diversity of media that include watercolor, pastel, oil, colored pencil, collage and photography. They share their knowledge and skills and learn from each other and are very fortunate to have Joanna Draugsvold, Master of Art, from The Studio in Winchendon, as an instructor.
