Ashburnham resident Andrew Gage opened a new Internet café and computer service center in Fitchburg this month.

"This location is first a computer service center and then a Internet café," Gage said. "I wanted to provide a place customers could drop off their computers, and since I have the resources and room at the new location, decided to offer the public the Internet cafe as well."

The café and service center is located at 12 Mill St. in Fitchburg, which is on the new public walkway next to the Wine Cellar. Gage likes the location because of the outdoor atmosphere that has been developed and then access to the Main Street garage with twohour free parking.

Gage owned and ran Andrew's Diversified Services Co. for many years as a part-time business out of his Ashburnham home.

"My earlier focus was business computer systems, and with the opening of this store I will offer more access to the home computer market," he said.

As part of the move into a storefront business Fitchburg, Gage is changing the name of the business to match his motto, the MD of the PC.

The Internet cafe will provide WIFIaccess for free, and provide several computers with Internet access for a nominal fee. He is hoping to be a place where business meetings can take place or where people can simply grab a snack.

There will also be a gaming table for someone just wanting to play a game of chess or other game.

"It is my goal to provide a comfortable, clean place for people to gather and enjoy a few minutes of their day" he said. "It would also be a good place for people uncomfortable with computers to learn to use them before they spend extra money on a system themselves."

The computer service center is the big part of the business, which has been growing explosively as the business has over doubled its size each year over the last three years.

He started in the field more than seven years ago while working for a Fitchburg paper company. He then transitioned that part-time business in full-time job in Ashburnham before moving into a small office in Fitchburg.

Gage's experience is diverse, as he is an A+ Certified (computer repair), Network+ Certified (small Networks), MCP (Microsoft certified professional), Excel specialist, and pursuing MCSE (Microsoft certified system engineer).

"I help businesses do what they do best and try to make the home user happy with their computing experience," he said.
