Editorial Leslie Lightfoot, of Ashburnham, does the type of work we should all strive to do. She has taken on project after project to help veterans of the United States military in the area. She services the men and women who give up a portion of time in their lives to serve our country, after committing for three years to that same type of service. A veteran of the United States Army, she is currently converting 10-acres donated by Mount Wachusett Community College in a that facility will help Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, specifically burn and amputee patients and those with traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She has founded the Leominster Homestead, the Hero and Armistice Homesteads in Leominster, the Veteran Hospice Homestead in Fitchburg, the Veteran Victory Farm in Fitzwilliam, NH, a Mobile Medical Unit for Central and Western Massachusetts as well as Southern New Hampshire, and the Hacienda de Veteranos in Caguas, Puerto Rico. It seems like as soon as one project is up and running she is starting a new project. Dedication and determination like Lightfoot's is astounding and should be praised and honored. Keep up the amazing work! |
