Westminster all star team takes the field for Jimmy fund

Westminster hosted both Winchendon and Gardner during the last week to kick off the Jimmy Fund All Star season.

In the first inning, after Westminster third baseman Chaz Smith made a nice play throwing out the first batter, but Winchendon's offensive came out strong and scored two runs. Winchendon scored a run in both in the second and third innings. Tyler Hildreth was the starting pitcher for Westminster and was relieved in the third inning by Brett Smith. Westminster's defense held Winchendon after the third inning, highlighted by

Andrew Davis, catching a line drive at second base. Westminster rallied in the fifth inning and scored three runs on hits by Tyler Spencer and Patrick Porpora combined with a couple of walks. Westminster's comeback fell short as Winchendon's Josh Monette struck out the side in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Joe Panarello and Cody Walter also saw action for Westminster.

Gardner also got the better of the Westminster All Stars, winning by a score of 14 to 8.

Gardner came out strong to score six runs in the first inning. Troy Yacyshyn was able to hold Westminster to only three runs through four innings. Those runs came on hits by Patrick Porpora, Brian King, Chaz Smith and Kurt Wegener.

Gardner had another strong inning in the fourth scoring five runs. Westminster made steady progress, scoring two runs in the fifth on a couple of walks and good base running by Doug Ciampi and Andrew Davis, and three runs in the sixth, but came up short. Both Connor Girouard and Matt Gordon shared pitching duties for Gardner, while Chaz Smith, Tyler Hildreth, Tyler Spencer and Brett Smith all spent time on the
