AUGUST 3 FRIDAY

The 10-year-old Ashburnham All Star Jimmy Fund Team will be collecting money for the Jimmy Fund from 5 to 7 p.m. outside the Ashburnham American Legion, on Williams Road, during the First Friday of the Month Fish Fry. Proceeds to benefit the Jimmy Fund.

4 SATURDAY

The 10-year-old Ashburnham All Star Jimmy Fund Team will host a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Station (the fire station located on South Main Street). Proceeds to benefit the Jimmy Fund.

The Annual Massachusetts State Chili Cook-Off will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bentley Field, Winchendon. Music, concessions, contests and more will be featured. For information, call (978) 297- 1815.

Sterling Gymnastics, 15 Industrial Road, Sterling will host a Cartwheel-A-Thon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in honor of National Gymnastics Day. This fund-raising event is part of the Tyson Fitness Challenge and will benefit the Children's Miracle Network, the alliance of premier hospitals for children. All boys and girls ages 18 and under are invited to register by Aug.1, with prizes to be awarded to all participants, as well as grand prizes to the top cartwheeler in each age division. The Nashua River Valley Folk Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Fruitlands Museum, 102 Prospect Hill Road, Harvard. The Lancaster Coffeehouse presents a day-long celebration of folk music, with Arlo Guthrie as the featured performer. Fitchburg Pride to host Riverfront Park movie night Friday Night Movies presents "Flushed Away" at dusk, Friday, Aug. 3, at Riverfront Park, Fitchburg. Sonic DJ will entertain moviegoers beforehand with fun, games and raffles at 7 p.m. The Fitchburg Pride will be giving away passes to various local attractions. The Pride will also have an MVP of the Week booth set up for any athlete wanting to be nominated for the honor. At dusk, the movie screen will come down, the popcorn and blankets will come out, and families will settle down to view the movie, full of humor that the whole family can enjoy, giving new meaning to the expression "toilet humor." This family-oriented night of fun and activities is part of the Riverfront Park Free Friday Night Movies series. Rated PG; 90 minutes. The Free Friday Night Movies series runs every Friday through Aug. 17 at Riverfront Park, and is put on by the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority. The Fitchburg Youth Library, 610 Main St., will host the Central Massachusetts Repertory Theater for a performance of "The Dueling Storytellers" at 10 a.m. This is an interactive fun filled show where Aesop meets the Brothers Grimm and they challenge each other to see who tells the best stories. The theater troupe performed July 25 at the Fitchburg Public Library and the audience met Aesop. This show contains new and different fables from Aesop and stories from the Grimm Brothers. Join the Leominster Public Library and its neighbors from the Pilgrim Congregational Church at 6:30 p.m. for a chance to see a hot air balloon up close. Children ages 4 through 12 will have the opportunity to go inside the balloon's basket and learn how hot air balloons work. The balloon will be tethered to the ground and will not go up in the air.
