Police seized drugs from Cashman Hill Road home and arrest two
By Caitlyn Kelleher JOURNAL REPORTER

Donna Padgett, 45, and her 18-year-old son, Kyle Barnes, were arrested at their Cashman Hill Road home on Friday morning after police conducted a search of their hour for drugs.

The pair faces several drug charges related to the possession and distribution of illegal narcotics and illegal possession of a firearm, according to a police statement.

Ashburnham Police executed a search warrant at 155 Cashman Hill Road starting about 6:30 a.m. in conjunction with officers from the North Worcester County Drug Task Force and the Massachusetts State Police, according to police.

Police found and confiscated large amounts of marijuana, ecstasy, oxycontin and prescription drugs, according to Barrett. Police are not releasing the amount of drugs found in the home but said it was enough to indicate distribution.

Police also confiscated several types of scales and packaging equipment/supplies used for the distribution of narcotics, a safe with an undisclosed amount of cash, surveillance equipment, shotgun and ammunition, Barrett said.

Padgett is being charged with four counts of possession to distribute drugs because of the drugs found in her bedroom including in a locked safe, according to court records. She is also being charged for possessing a firearm - a Savage Arms shotgun rifle - without possessing an Firearms Identification Card and with improperly storing the firearm.

Barnes is being charged with possession of a Class D and possession of a firearm without a Firearms Identification Card.

It appears from court records that no incidents occurred during the time of arrest.

The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation for the distribution of illegal narcotics. Police say their investigation reveals the primary customers were high school and college age individuals.

Padgett and Barnes were arraigned at Winchendon District Court on Friday. Barnes was released on his own recognizance and Padgett was held on $10,000 before a bail review hearing was held on Tuesday, July 31.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and/or criminal charges may occur.
