Skating towards the medals at Champlain Valley Open

A number of area skaters stood on the medal box on July 27 -29, at the Champlain Valley Open held by the Champlain Valley Skating Club in Burlington, Vt., which is sanctioned by US Figure Skating and Skate Canada.

Local figure skating coach Michelle Chevarie, of Westminster, had six students compete in Burlington.

Cynthia Haley, 17, of Phillipston, represented the Monadnock Figure Skating Club of Gardner competing in the Juvenile Girls Freestyle earned a silver medal and in the Pre-Juvenile/Juvenile Showcase earning a silver medal.

Samantha Rivers, 17, of Ashby, Representing the Wallace Figure Skating Club of Fitchburg competed in Juvenile Girls Freestyle receiving a bronze medal and in the Pre-Juvenile/Juvenile Showcase receiving a bronze medal.

Michelle Bellino, 12, of Townsend, represented the Wallace Figure Skating Club of Fitchburg and competed in Pre-Preliminary/ Preliminary Showcase receiving a bronze medal.

Madison Litalien, 10, of Athol, represented the Academy Skating of Ashburnham and competed in Time Competitor Freestyle receiving a gold medal.

Micayla Davis, 10, of Templeton, represented the Monadnock Figure Skating Club of Gardner competing in Badge Showcase earning a gold medal.

Madison Chevarie, 8, of Westminster, represented the Academy Skating Club of Ashburnham Competed in Badge B Girls Freestyle earning a gold medal and in the Pre-Preliminary Compulsory Moves receiving fifth place

Also Madison Chevarie, Madison Litalien, Micayla Davis and Michelle Bellino represented Massachusetts as a team called The M&M's in the Pre-Preliminary/Preliminary Team Compulsory Moves event and placed fourth.
