For weeks and even months now the residents of Ashburnham and Westminster have been debating whether or not to fund the school budget through overrides of Propositions 2 1/2, and therefore increase the tax base. During the debates there have been many arguments against increasing the tax base.

The situation is critical again
To the Editor: It was only two years ago that we sat down to write a similar letter at a similarly critical period for the Ashburnham Westminster Regional School District. Our support for the upcoming override ballot vote on Tuesday, Aug.14, is as fervent as it was in 2005.

It would be easy for me to think my time is done so I don't need to support the schools any longer. That is not going to h...

Residents: "Hold your nose and vote yes."
To the Editor: After much thought, we've decided to vote for the AWRSD school override. We think taxes are far too high, and that we get little back for what we pay, but this is not a local school district problem. It is a state and national problem, and we can do nothing but hurt our own student...

Former student speaks in favor of override saying schools are everyone's responsibility
To the Editor: I would like to urge the residents of Ashburnham and Westminster to vote "yes" on the School Override when you go to the polls on August 14. There has been a large amount of discussion about the school budget this summer, both in the papers and on the internet, but I feel it is imp...

Committee member comments on request
To the Editor: As I was looking over my finances recently, I tried to think about the school budget in relation to my household budget. Why can't the School District just make the necessary cuts to stay within the Proposition 2 ½ restrictions? So I began to think.
