Forbush's fall schedule

Forbush Memorial Library, located at 118 Main St., Westminster, offers the following upcoming events:

Events

On Monday, Aug. 20, the teen movie the "Messengers" (rated PG 13) will be shown at 5:30 p.m.

On Monday, Aug. 27, the teen movie "Labyrinth" (rated PG) will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Also on Monday, the Monday Night Book Club will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the book "The Orchid Thief" by Susan Orlean. This book club is not genre specific, so has something different every month.

Forbush after Labor Day

A new Mystery Book Club is forming that will meet Monday, Tuesday, or Friday afternoons. Please sign-up and let the staff know which weekday afternoon is preferred by calling (978) 874-7416.

Forbush will be open new hours after Labor Day. The library will be open an additional two hours on Thursday evenings. Hours will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 to 8 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Story times for children will begin again the middle of September.

Summer is far from over, and new books are still coming into the library. Patrons are invited to try out "Hades," by Russell Andrews, which is a thriller about conspiracy and murder; "The Assassin" by Andrew Britton, which is an international thriller by an accomplished young author; "The Dead Room" by Heather Graham, which is a book about what can the secrets of the dead tell; "Heart-shaped Box" by Joe Hill, which is focused on ghosts, terror, strangeness, and redemption; "Bird of Another Heaven" by James D. Houston, in which characters are discovering family connections in California and Hawaii; "Sugar Daddy" by Lisa Kleypas, which is a love story set in Texas; "Kingdom Come, the final victory," by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, which is considered a Christian fiction book; "Back on Blossom Street" by Debbie Macomber, which is a gentle read about family dynamics; "The Secret Servant" in which author Daniel Silva focuses on spies and terror; "Visibility" is a book in which author Boris Starling writes of the mystery of modern-day Russia; and two new travel books have hit the shelves: "Frommer's Puerto Rico (8th ed.)" and "Frommer's India (2nd ed.)."

Many new titles have been shelved in the Kendig Room by the fireplace.

Until Labor Day, the Forbush Memorial Library is open Mondays and Tuesdays, 1 to 8 p.m.; Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Renewals can be done online from home.
