McKeehan selected for Regionalism & Sustainable Development Program David L. McKeehan, the president of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, was picked by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives as a fellow in the Regionalism and Sustainable Development program. McKeehan, a Westminster resident, has served as the president of the North Central Chamber of Commerce for a number of years. Fellows will craft a regional action plan, which explores a specific projectbased regional solution to be concluded (or launched) within two years of the program conclusion. The Regionalism and Sustainable Development (RSD) Fellowship is a group of people from over 30 chamber executives and funded through the Ford Foundation and the Heinz Foundation. The American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) is the only national association uniquely serving the professional development needs of individuals managing chambers of commerce throughout the United States and Canada. In McKeehan's role as chief executive officer, he effected the merger of two area chambers of commerce and several smaller business entities into a regional economic development, business advocacy organization, serving14 cities and towns. McKeehan also currently manages two not-for-profit development corporations, a chamber-affiliated public foundation, and a regional tourism organization (appleseed. org). Prior to his current position, McKeehan was vice president of the Detroit (MI) Regional Chamber, where he was responsible for policy development, planning and management of regional government relations, urban economic development, housing, public safety, education, transportation, workforce development, and community relations programming for one of the largest major-metro chambers of commerce in the country. McKeehan earned his bachelor's degree from Atlantic Union College in Lancaster and has attended the Center for Creative Leadership and the Institute for Organization Management. |
