The Central Massachusetts Limb Loss Support Group members, families and friends to hold their annual cookout at the home of Rene and Louise Cote of Westminster on Aug. 11.

The group took part in several contest, such as a crazy hat contest, tossing rings around Lucky Lucy, and bowling on the lawn. The group also had a raffle for a wooden hanging witch, and several small craft items. Those items were made and donated by Louise Cote.

The food was delicious and the variety of side dishes and desserts brought by members was delightful.

A surprise award was given to Cote for her volunteer work for the group.

The friendships that have developed through this group are the greatest. They have trained peer visitors and caregivers to answer questions.

The group welcomes all amputees, their families and friends to join. The group's mission is to reach out to people with limb loss and provide a supportive environment. The meetings are held at the Clinton Hospital in conference room A on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.

To reach the group by call Rose Bissonnette at (978) 365-2580 the group's Web site www.centralmalimbloss.org.
