The Circle of Artists is planning their second annual art exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Westminster American Legion Building, 127 Main St., Westminster. An opening reception will be held on Nov. 3, offering music and refreshments.
Art work will be done by participants of the Circle of Artist, local Westminster artists, and senior art students from Oakmont Regional High School will be shown.
There will be two special exhibits of an interpretive piece done by the Circle of Artists members. Each artist views two photographs of scenes, one of a red butterfly, and the other of an old, rusted truck and then portrays the scenes according to each one's favorite medium and style.
Another special exhibit will be two Cooperative Art pieces based on two famous paintings, one done by Monet and the other by Van Gogh. Each artist painted a 16- by 20-inch panel from the painting, and then these panels were put together to form a whole. Studying the Masters is a valid method to help each one develop their own special style and vision.
As we prepare for this show, we review the past year. We have grown in number of members. We now have an experienced, talented art instructor Joanna Draugsvold who projected us to expand our talent and vision in the art medium of our choice.
We also want to remember Owen, a large, black friendly Labrador retriever, who lived next door to the Senior Center and was a frequent visitor, and Owen demanded his biscuit as a treat. He brought comfort, friendship and pleasure to us all. He is sadly missed.
