Great Books Book Club moving to Fitchburg Public Library The Great Books Book Club will kick off its new season on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main St. The club will read and discuss "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles. Founded in 1957 in Westminster, it is one of hundreds of Great Books chapters in the country, and is possibly the oldest chapter in New England. The Great Books Foundation is an independent, nonprofit educational organization founded to promote reading, thinking, and the sharing of ideas of people of all ages. Members take turns leading the discussion, if they wish. The club will meet the second Thursday of each month from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m., from March to November.
