Yard Sale to benefit Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk FITCHBURG - The Highlands will be hosting their annual Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at their facility located at 335 Nichols Road. This event will be held rain or shine at the facility. The Highlands host this event annually with proceeds split between The Alzheimer's Association's Annual Memory Walk and Operation Christmas Child. The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk® is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. This year's walk will be held on Sept. 29, at Mount Wachusett Community College. As always The Highlands is seeking additional team members to take part in this event. To become a member of The Highlands team, please contact Linda Rodriguez at (978) 343-4411. The Highlands along with Life Care Centers of America participates annually in the Operation Christmas Child campaign, collecting shoe boxes full of Christmas gifts to be distributed to children in wartorn and poverty-stricken countries all over the world. The project is run through Samaritan's Purse, a Christian relief organization headed by Franklin Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham. As in prior years The Highlands will serve as a local drop site for gift filled shoe boxes during the collection week. Donations of yard sale items are still needed. For information regarding this event or additional information on the Memory Walk or Operation Christmas Child may be obtained by contacting Bethany Legros, The Highlands Director of Admissions and Marketing, at (978) 343-4411. |
