Cuts are the results of the failed override To the Editor: Now that the override has failed and the School Committee and Administration has made the cuts that the the voters mandated everyone is all up in arms. When a budget fails all bets are off the table. I, for one, think that we should respect the cuts that have been made since they were across the board and affected all areas. No one likes to see co-curriculars cut but neither do I like to see 32 positions eliminated, the curriculum renewal cycle stopped, professional development cut, and no new computers. Who is shedding tears about those cuts? I have heard a tremendous amount of bitching, name calling, and second guessing of the School Committee and the Administration. Give it a rest, that is not constructive problem solving. It would have been much easier to pass the budget! I don't like what happened but the voters have spoken and now our kids face the consequences. What did you expect? Dan Stango Westminster |
