Town is seeking to fill open slots
By Caitlyn Kelleher JOURNAL REPORTER

Interim Town Administrator Paul Bouchell is conducting a variety of job searches this fall.

The town is searching for a new building inspector because in May voters at the annual town meeting approved the additional funding for the position's salary to add some daytime hours instead of only weekend and evening hours.

The town is also searching for a new animal inspector.

Neither position is attracting a large number of qualified applicants, said Bouchell.

Bouchell has conducted one round of interviews for the building inspector position but the search committee's first choice was not able to the take the job.

The search is continuing and the position is listed as "open until the position is filled," in the posting. Bouchell said once he receives another group of qualified applicants there will be another round of interviews.

Building Inspector Mike Gallant is unable to take the part-time position with daytime hours because of his full-time position in Fitchburg. Gallant currently works a couple of evenings during the week and on weekends.

The town is also searching for an animal inspector, which is regulated under state law and inspects the living conditions of swine, bovine and equine, said Bouchell.

Margaret Bennett resigned for the position earlier this summer but she has continued to hold the position of animal control officer.

The one position the town filled quickly this summer was the land use administrator, which is now filled by Denee Howard. Conservation Agent Lori Capone filled the position for most of the year after the unexpected death of the previous land use administrator. Capone has now returned to the conservation agent position full time.
