Applewild opens door for 50th consecutive school year

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, the doors of Applewild School in Fitchburg opened for their 50th consecutive year.

With an enrollment of 283 students, the school encompasses grades Kindergarten through nine and the student/faculty ratio is six to one. Set on 26 acres, the co-educational day school includes six buildings which house four science labs, two libraries, two art studios, two gymnasiums, two theaters, two choral and instrumental music rooms, two woodworking shops and a photography lab. Three athletic fields are available for interscholastic teams of soccer, field hockey,cross-country running, basketball and lacrosse.

The student body has a geographic representation of forty-four towns in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and they come from as far north as Nashua, N. H., and as far east as Concord.
