Golf team says thanks for support

To the Editor:

We would like to thank the residents of Ashburnham and Westminster and the surrounding towns for their support in our fund-raising efforts. To all of those who participated in the golf tournament and to those who made donations, we are very grateful.

We are especially grateful to Mike Leblanc and the Westminster Country Club. As soon as Mr. Leblanc found out that our team was not going to be funded this year, he began planning the golf tournament for our benefit, and he did a fantastic job. We should also note that the Country Club has been very generously donating their greens for all of our practices and our matches for many years.

Our thanks also go to the Oakmont Booster Club. They came forward and offered to "front" the funding for our team until we were able to raise the funds ourselves.

Because of the efforts of all involved, we are playing golf again and are able to compete on a varsity level with other high schools.
