Throughout the area Historical Society to host country fair ASHBY - The Ashby Historical Society is sponsoring an Olde Tyme Country Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Ashby Stock Farm, Main Street. There will be Artisans demonstrating early American crafts, hayrides, music, contra, square and Finnish dancing, food, antique fire pumpers, Native American exhibitors, Civil War re-enacters, the Captain of the Marine Guard of the U.S.S. Constitution, a Grange exhibit, antique farm implements, early children's games, Morgan horses, freshly baked pies and more. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and over (children under 12 are free). Annual Scandinavian Marketplace to be held at Finnish Center The annual Scandinavian Marketplace (TORI) will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Saima Park, 67 Scott Road, Fitchburg. A variety of vendors will offer unique gifts from Scandinavia, enticing visitors to start their Christmas shopping early. Visitors will find jewelry, clothing, books, music and more. Beef stew, hot dogs, plenty of coffee and coffee bread (pulla), delicious Arctic sundaes (vanilla ice cream topped with lingonberries) will be served. HealthAlliance to host 'Healthy Woman Healthy Choices' event HealthAlliance Hospital is hosting its fourth annual "Healthy Woman Healthy Choices" at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Four Points by Sheraton, 99 Erdman Way, Leominster. This event will feature a health fair and refreshments and a featured presentation with keynote speaker Alice Domar, PhD, who explores wellness care for women and its impact on a variety of health conditions. "Celestial Nights: Visions of an Ancient Land" opens at FSC Black and white photographs that capture the night skies above Israel will be on view at the Campus Center Art Gallery this fall. The exhibit, "Celestial Nights: Visions of an Ancient Land" by Neil Folberg, runs from Sept. 18 through Nov. 15. It opens at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, with an introduction to Folberg's work by communications media professor Peter Laytin in Ellis White Lecture Hall of the Hammond Campus Center. An opening reception will follow at 7 p.m. in the gallery. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Comedy show to benefit Avon Breast Cancer Walk Team Tickle Me Pink is sponsoring a Comedy Show on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Acadien Social Club, 193 Parker St., Gardner.
