Tweedo's holds seventh annual ice cream give away

Tweedo's Variety will be giving away the last of their ice cream on Saturday and Sunday or until the ice cream runs out. This is the seventh year Tim Fissette, the owner of Tweedo's, has hosted Ice Cream for America at which he gives away the store's ice cream and asks for donations to the American Red Cross in memory of the Sept. 11 attacks. The store matches all donations. The event will run Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. until the ice cream is gone.

Red Cross holds blood drive

An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in Ashburnham on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Ashburnham Community Church, located on Main Street, from 2 until 7 p.m. The blood drive will be open to the public.

The Red Cross states that anyone that is 17 or older and is in good health, weighs 110 pounds or more, and who has not given blood in the last 56 days can try to donate.

The American Red Cross requires a positive ID before donating. For more information or to make an appointment for any Red Cross blood drive, please call 1-800 GIVE LIFE (800-448-3543). Having an appointment will ensure the quickest possible process.

Affordable Housing Committee to hold forum

The Ashburnham Affordable Housing Committee is sponsoring a Housing Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Overlook Middle School library. Residents are invited to attend this forum so that the committee can ensure that all housing needs of residents are identified. Information on first-time homebuyer education and other affordable housing programs will be provided. Representatives from regional and state housing-related organizations are expected to participate, including: Greater Gardner Community Development Corporation, MassHousing, Montachusett Regional Planning Commission, North Central Massachusetts Habitat for Humanity, RCAP Solutions, along with representatives from local banks.
