Rice named to state library board

State Representative Robert L. Rice, Jr. (D-Gardner) was named to the Board of Trustees of the Massachusetts State Library by Speaker of the House of Representatives Salvatore F. DiMasi (D-Boston).

Rice will serve as the Speaker's Designee on the seven member board.

"My interest in serving as a Trustee of the State Library stems from my experience in the public library field, first as Director of the Levi Heywood Memorial Library, and then as Librarian at Gardner High School," Rice said in a press release. "I am keenly aware of the responsibility of this new undertaking and will work to ensure the continued growth and success of the institution."

The State Library, founded in 1826, maintains a collection of maps, statute books, and government documents and serves as a multifaceted resource for legislators, executive personnel, state employees, historians, genealogists and citizens.
