How the library fence got painted
Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

The Forbush Memorial Library Board of Trustees recently concluded that it was time to paint our white picket fence and decided to try and accomplish the task with volunteers. We did not need to be as canny as Tom Sawyer to get the help we needed. We simply contacted the Oakmont Peer Leaders and National Honor Society and this past Saturday, 15 high school students showed up to paint. As with the literary precedent, the job was done quickly and we all enjoyed the morning and the satisfaction of a job well done.

Thank you Oakmont students for giving us your time, energy and good spirits. Thanks also to the Friedman family for providing lunch to the painters and to Aubuchon Hardware for donating the paint. We only wish that all our projects could be accomplished as easily and with as little effect on the taxpayers as this one was.
