Adult Movement Classes offered at FAM FITCHBURG - Get moving this winter at the Fitchburg Art Museum, located on Merriam Parkway, by taking an exercise class. Judith Lindstedt teaches "Chair Moves," Thursdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. now through Nov. 1. "Listen to music from the 1920s to the 1950s and learn graceful movements that create flexibility, supported by strength, coordination and increased circulation," says Lindstedt. Coggshall in moonlight on Sept. 29

FITCHBURG - A moonlight hike will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Coggshall Park. Participants should meet at 6:45 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus parking lot in Fitchburg, and the group will enter the park at 7 p.m. sharp. Anyone who arrives later will not be allowed in. Hikers should bring a flashlight, hiking pole and safety glasses or goggles. After the hike, participants are invited to the Stone House for refreshments.

Sunday Performing Arts Series to Open New Season at Fitchburg Public Library

FITCHBURG - The Sunday Performing Arts Series at the Fitchburg Public Library will open its new season on Sunday, Sept. 30 with a concert of chamber music. The New Piano Quartet is the Ensemble in Residence at the New School of Music in Cambridge, where its members serve on the faculty. In addition to the standard piano quartet repertoire, the New Piano Quartet performs works by female and contemporary composers. Their program on Sunday will include works by Beethoven, Schubert, and William Walton. All concerts are held at 2:30 p.m. - with doors opening at 2:15 p.m. - at the Fitchburg Public Library, located at 610 Main St. Admission is free. For information, call (978) 345- 9635.

Event goes behind the scenes of Vatican

FITCHBURG - An upcoming event will give audience members an insider's look at the artwork found at the Vatican museums.

Michael DiPierro, of the organization Patrons of the Vatican Museums, will present a talk about the group's work, which involves the restoration of more than 150,000 pieces of art. The Vatican museums, at 501 years old, is a repository of countless treasures dating from pre-historic times to the present. Selecting and restoring the most damaged of the important pieces has been the goal of the Patrons of the Vatican Museums.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Fitchburg Art Museum, 185 Elm St. Tickets are $7 at the door. Sponsored by the Center for Italian Culture at Fitchburg State College and the Fitchburg Art Museum.

Haunted Happenings at 4-H Camp

ASHBY - The 4th Annual Haunted Happening will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at 4-H Camp Middlesex, 1031 Erickson Road, Ashby. This is a family oriented event featuring a ghostly walk through Haunted Hill. Come in costume and enjoy scary stories in front of the fire, scarecrows, pumpkins, games, face painting, crafts, warm drinks and delicious treats, and a costume parade at 7:30 p.m. Held rain or shine; participants should bring a flashlight. Tickets, sold at the entrance, are $8 (children under 3 years old admitted free). Admission includes three game tickets. Proceeds to support Camp Middlesex and Middlesex County 4-H Programs. In a continuing effort to support local food banks - bring two non-perishable food or paper items and get $1 off your admission.

Comedy show to benefit Avon Cancer Walk

GARDNER - Team Tickle Me Pink is sponsoring a Comedy Show on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Acadien Social Club, 193 Parker St., Gardner. Proceeds to benefit the Avon Breast Cancer Walk. Horror film brought to life at FSC

FITCHBURG - Join CenterStage at Fitchburg State College for a silent horror film brought to life with the music of the Devil Music Ensemble.

The film, "Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horrors," will be shown at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, in Ellis White Lecture Hall, Hammond Campus Center.

"Nosferatu" is a classic vampire film from the 1920s. The Devil Music Ensemble describes the film as "descended from the same artistic wave of German cinema in the 1920s, is the definition itself of artistic film, where painting, architecture, literature, psychology, and politics meet in a work that gratifies both the eyes and the spirit."

The film's characters come to life and the story is complemented with the Devil Music Ensemble's live soundscape created from electric violin, vibraphone, synthesizer, guitar, lap steel, drums and percussion.

Tickets at the door are $3 for FSC students and visitors under 18 years old, $7 for the general public, and $5 for seniors. For information, call (978) 665-3709.
