Bush Hill property hikes are this weekend The Ashburnham Conservation Trust (ACT) along with the Ashburnham Conservation Commission will be co-hosting a hike of the Bush Hill Town Forest on Saturday, Oct. 13, with a rain date of the following day, Sunday, Oct. 14. There will be two hikes in different areas of this preserve, one starting at 8 a.m. that will go to the top of Bush Hill and another starts at 10 a.m. that will go to Tuckerman Road. For both groups the starting point is about 1.5 miles up Bush Hill Road. The Bush Hill property, 460-acres, is owned by town and was bought in 2004 through a series of grants, money from the state's open space fund and $177,000 in private donations. This year using Federal Forest Legacy Grant funds, approximately 250 acres of abutting property in Ashburnham and Winchendon was bought, which created an approximately 700-acres preserve.
