Olive J. (Coombs) Rivers, 91 WESTMINSTER - Olive J. (Coombs) Rivers, 91, of 9 North Common Road, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster after an illness. She was born Fitchburg, the daughter of the late Jesse and Florence (Fairfield) Coombs. She was a graduate of Gardner High School, and lived in Westminster all of her life. Olive was one of the last children of a Civil War veteran. She worked for the U.S. federal government, in civil defense and as an ordnance inspector. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Westminster and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the William S. Miller American Legion Post 174 of Westminster. Olive leaves one son and daughter-in-law, David and Marion Rivers of Fitchburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Michael Bruscoe of South Deerfield; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the wife of the late George A. Rivers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O. Box 142, Lunenburg, MA 01462 or to the American Diabetes Association, 350 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02118. The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. |
