WESTMINSTER - Olive J. (Coombs) Rivers, 91, of 9 North Common Road, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster after an illness.

She was born Fitchburg, the daughter of the late Jesse and Florence (Fairfield) Coombs. She was a graduate of Gardner High School, and lived in Westminster all of her life. Olive was one of the last children of a Civil War veteran. She worked for the U.S. federal government, in civil defense and as an ordnance inspector.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Westminster and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the William S. Miller American Legion Post 174 of Westminster.

Olive leaves one son and daughter-in-law, David and Marion Rivers of Fitchburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Michael Bruscoe of South Deerfield; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the wife of the late George A. Rivers.

The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
