Edward W. Hitchcock, 95
Was district superintendent for Mass Electric Co.

WESTMINSTER - Edward "Ted" W. Hitchcock 95, of Westminster, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, while surrounded by his loving family, at the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Templeton.

He was born in Walpole, N.H. on March 18, 1912, the son of the late Ira and Florence (Thompson) Hitchcock. He was a 1930 graduate of Walpole High School, and graduated in 1934 from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering.

Mr. Hitchcock was the district superintendent for the Massachusetts Electrical Co. in Gardner for 41 years, retiring in 1977.

He has lived in Westminster since 1947, and was a member of, and past president of the Westminster Rotary Club, now known as the Ashburnham- Westminster Rotary Club. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Westminster and a former member of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Hitchcock was also a former member of the Forbush Memorial Library Board of Trustees.

Mr. Hitchcock was an avid fly fisherman and a member of the Rice Meadow Fly Club, and the Trout Unlimited. He was also an avid bridge player and a member of the Jaffrey Bridge Club, and a Cribbage and Camera Enthusiast.

He leaves his second wife, Loretta (Dumont) Hitchcock; one son, Robert Hitchcock of North Plainfield, N.J.; one daughter, Sue Trowbridge of Staten Island, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Priscilla Pouliot of Templeton and Paulette Alisauskas of Westminster; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two nieces. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Sawyer) Hitchcock who died in 1960. He was also predeceased by a brother, Dana Hitchcock, and a sister, Doris Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Hitchcock's name to the Westminster Rescue Fund, 7 South Street, Westminster, MA 01473.
