Monty Tech's second annual Haunted School will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the school. There will be plenty of ghostly creatures, scary sights and sounds, maybe even a skeleton or ghost or two.

The event will feature activities for all ages. For children 11 and under, there will be a children's adventure hall where youngsters will help the Cowardly Lion find his courage. Making special appearances that evening will be the Wizard, the Grinch, Cruella DeVille, the Cowardly Lion and many more.

Other age-appropriate activities for children will include face painting, hayrides, moonwalk, coloring and "pin the nose in the pumpkin."

Activities for teens and adults include a mad scientist lab, urban legends, mysterious graveyards, paranormal happenings, a guillotine, and a host of very scary characters.

Monty Tech students will guide visitors through the haunted school. Halloween Costume World and Haunted Mansion is supplying some of the costumes.

"It's a great, fun, safe family night with something for everyone," said 1st Sgt. Paul A. Jornet, Monty Tech MCJROTC, who is overseeing the event.

This is a school-wide sponsored project and all the displays, he added, are being built and created by students and teachers in a number of Monty Tech's programs.

"All the construction, lighting, audio, painting and costumes are being done in the trade programs. Teachers are using the event to expand the students skills in their particular trade areas," he said.

Students in the Early Childhood Education program are designing and creating all the children's events.

There will be a concession stand for refreshments.

Tickets for the event, which are available at the door, are $5 for children under 12; $7 for students with a school I.D., and $9 for adults. Cost for a family of four is $25.

All proceeds will benefit Monty Tech's Student Assistance fund and other student activities and services.

Monty Tech is located at 1050 Westminster St., Route 2A, at the Fitchburg- Westminster line.
