She entered the convent with the Sisters of Mercy when she was 18 years old and remained with the order 10 years. Later, she became a Carmelite nun, remaining with that order another 20 years. It is true that the Boston Red Sox lost one of their biggest fans on Sunday, Sept. 30. Maria was passionate about baseball and most especially, the Boston Red Sox. Maria absolutely loved roses, assisting her husband in growing 118 different varieties. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful heart. She was truly loved by all.
