Filippa (Anzalone) Iannaccone, 95
She was born on May 1, 1911, in Sicily, the daughter of Antonio and Concetta (Fidente) Anzalone. She came to the United States with her family in 1914. She attended Fitchburg Public Schools. Mrs. Iannaccone worked for DuPont Chemical in Leominster until 1945, when she married Alfred Iannaccone, of Fitchburg, who was an officer in the United States Air Force. As a military wife, she traveled extensively. With her husband and family, she lived in San Antonio, Texas; Bellville, Ill.; Levittown, N.Y.; Misawa, Japan; Eglin Air Force Base, Florida; Tokyo, Japan; and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. In 1968, after her husband's retirement, she returned to Fitchburg where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was a member of St. Anthony di Padua Parish, and Madonna of the Holy Rosary Parish. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Mrs. Iannaccone leaves two sons, Alfred Iannaccone and his wife Rebecca ,of Westminster, and David Iannaccone, of Fitchburg; three grandchildren, Alfred Iannaccone and his wife Keri, of Virginia, Lee Cofsky and her husband James, of Worcester, and Catherine Iannaccone, of Westminster; three great-grandchildren, Brady and Benjamin Cofsky, and Lilly Iannaccone; one sister, Jennie Bensuk and her husband, Alexander, of Fitchburg; many nieces and nephews. Her husband of 49 years, Alfred Iannaccone, died in 1993. Four sisters, Mary Giunta, Connie Valera, Vincenza DiBella, and Sadie Quatrale, all of Fitchburg, and three brothers, Michael Anzalone, of New York, Joseph Anzalone, of Leominster, and Philip Anzalone, of Fitchburg, all predeceased her.
