D'Entremont shows paintings Paintings by Westminster resident Heidi D'Entremont, and photographs by Rebekah Trieschman will be on exhibit at Hampshire College's Main Gallery from November 4-20. The exhibit is a return to Hampshire's Main Gallery for both artists. D'Entremont was in a group show of work by Central Massachusetts Women's Caucus for Art in 2005. In 2002 D'Entremont founded the Central Massachusetts chapter of the Women's caucus for Art along with other area artists, according to her Web site. "I've been working on these paintings on and off for over a year - some more than that. I wanted to explore the figure again after a period of working more from my imagination," D'Entremont said in a press release. "What I found was that after attempting to do more straight-forward figurative paintings for a while, other elements started to creep back into the work, and I was incorporating surreal and imaginative images once again. These paintings represent a mixture of both worlds, in which I keep ending up somewhere in between." D'Entremont earned a B.F.A. in Painting in 1992 from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, and has been exhibiting widely in the United States. Trieschman has worked in a wide range of art media, her most recent body of work is a group of multiple-exposure photographs, 35mm negatives that have been manually reversed and re-exposed, and then printed digitally. The show opened on Sunday, Nov. 4, and will run through Nov. 20. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact gallery director Carolyn Arnold at (413) 559-5544. |
