Coffeehouse presents Fisher

The Boulder Coffeehouse presents Mark Fisher at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Fitchburg, 923 Main St.

Performing on guitar and vocals since birth ... okay, age 12, Mark has been captivating audiences for nearly four decades. A native of Gardner, Marks musical training started early while playing saxophone in the school band, and spent four years in the drum line of The Simplex Minutemen marching band.

When his mother had open heart surgery in 1966, Mark's dad made a deal to get him an electric guitar (sorry but no amp) so his mom could convalesce in relative peace. A few years later while working as a camp counselor in Orland, Maine, he got his first acoustic guitar and it all suddenly made sense. Within a year of graduating of high school, Mark was out touring the country with a camper and his dog, John, as well as his friend and later manager Jim Butterfield. The first of several such trips, Mark honed his performance skills playing for tips and meals and playing campfire jams in many National Parks. During the journey from band front man to soloist in pubs, wedding singer, and singer/ songwriter, Mark has learned a thing or two about how to hold an audience and deliver a show. He has been playing his own diverse mix of comedic, personal, and socio-political songs since releasing his CD "They went North" in 1995. His fifth CD release "Don't Get Me Started" is scheduled for release this month. Along with familiar chestnuts and songs from the blues, some standards, and jug-band hits, Mark entertains with music, stories and Yankee wit.

Proceeds from the $5 suggested donations will be split between the host church ad LUK. For information, call (978) 345- 2661.
