Rails to Trails Committee to hold public meeting

The Ashburnham Rails to Trails Committee is holding a presentation on the proposed Rail Trail on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. at Overlook Middle School.

The town's Rail Trail engineering consultants, Fay Spofford & Thorndike (FST) and Wetlands & Wildlife, will be presenting their findings on the first phase of the Ashburnham Rail Trail, which extends the approximately 1.3 miles from Turnpike Road north to Willard. Town Planner Eric Smith will also provide a progress report on the on-going efforts to develop the entire Rail Trail system in town, which could connect Ashburnham Village Center to South Ashburnham, including a planned connection to Briggs Elementary School. There will also be an update on a planned connection to the North Central Pathway in Winchendon, via the former Cheshire Branch of the Fitchburg Railroad.

Further information about the work of the Rail Trail Committee, will be available the Town's Web site at: http://www.ashburnham ma.gov/Pages/AshburnhamMA_ BComm/trail.
