Tax bills have been sent

Melody L. Gallant, the treasurer/collector for Westminster has mailed the first half fiscal year 2008 real estate and personal property tax bills on Dec. 21, 2007. The payments are due by Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008. Payments should be made payable to the Town of Westminster and may be mailed to Town Hall, 11 South St., Westminster, MA 01473 or in the drop box on the Town Hall front door. Payments must be received by Jan. 22, 2008. Postmarks are not accepted. Abatement applications are also due in the Assessors' office by Jan. 22. Town Hall hours are Monday thru Thursday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Vehicle stickers extended

The Westminster Public Works Commission has extended the expiration date for vehicle stickers expiring Dec. 31. These stickers will be valid for one additional year, expiring Dec. 31, 2008.

Agricultural Commission vacancies

The Board of Selectmen is looking for Westminster residents to serve on the Agricultural Commission that was established at the fall town meeting in November. The members of the Commission will represent the Westminster farming community by serving as facilitators to encourage agriculture and promote the agricultural-based economic opportunities in the town.

The five-member commission will be responsibilities will include a variety of different issues. Some would be to advising town boards and organizations on projects and activities including acquisitions and other transactions involving agricultural lands in town.

Commission members must be registered voters in Westminster.
