Strategic plan survey to come this fall
      Residents in the Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District are soon going to have the chance to express their opinion on the future strategic plan for the school district. Supt. Michael Zapantis is preparing a short-answer survey to distribute to all residents to gage their opinions on different aspects of school district and the schools.

Overlay district proposed for wind tower bylaw
      The Planning Board is getting ready to hold a public hearing for new zoning bylaw that would allow wind towers to be built in town. The final draft of the new Large Wind Energy Facilities Zoning Bylaw, which would become Section 5.17 of the Ashburnham Zoning Bylaw has now been completed by the Planning Board.

Rush to play for Conservation Trust
      The Ashburnham Conservation Trust will be hosting Tom Rush this year as a fundraiser. The group is hosting their second concert after the success of last year's concert by Livingston Taylor. Rush will perform at Oakmont Regional High School on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Rail Trail clean up scheduled
      The Ashburnham Rail Trail Committee has scheduled the fourth clean up for Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Williams Road entrance going towards Cashman Hill Road. (There will be a sign.) Volunteers are asked to wear boots and gloves and bring plenty of bug spray. George Gorrell of the Jungle will have heavy equipment to cut and chip the brush.

      Top Story: The School Committee adopted a revised capital plan at their meeting on Tuesday so they could return $20,000 they took out of their stabilization account to cover the costs of additional drainage work on road leading to Overlook Middle School.
