Senior center committee looking at first designs
      The members of the Senior Center Building Committee met with an Oakmont Regional High School student as part of their preliminary design process before meeting with the civil engineer who is trying to layout the site. The committee members looked at a draft site layout of three senior housing buildings and a senior center on 69 West Main St.

Church hosts first HopeFest
      Gary and Janis Collette are hoping to bring the community together by creating a day to just enjoy each, the beautiful view of nature and raise money for a scholarship fund. Gary Collette, is the reverend at Bread of Life Church, and he and his wife are hoping to open up the church to the community with HopeFest08.

Alopecia awareness at youth football
      The Oakmont Pop Warner program will be recognizing alopecia - a disease that leads to bladness - in support of a Westminster 7-year-old suffering from the medical disorder. During the games this Sunday all teams will be recognizing alopecia awareness month by wearing bandanas, and to raise some funds for the alopecia support organization.

Trust to host three hikes
      The Ashburnham Conservation Trust has two hikes of Mt. Watatic scheduled in the upcoming weeks that will be lead by Don Lemay and Sharon DiPasquale. The hikes are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 18, each starting at 10 a.m. Those wanting to join the hike should meet in the parking lot on Route 119.

Counseling Center hosts four week course
      Ecclesia Christian Counseling Center will host a workshop called, God, Why am I so Angry, which is a four week course, starting on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 6 to 8 p.m. The Center is located at 2 Narrows Road, Suite C1, in Westminster. Historical Society to host annual flea market
      The Westminster Historical Society will host their annual flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 27, at 110 Main St., Westminster. Donations will be accepted now until the Friday before the flea market (please bring large items on Friday due to lack of space). The society is also looking for volunteers to help with set up and clean up.
