Property tax rates set in both towns
Bills scheduled to be mailed out on time
      The state Department of Revenue approved the tax rate for both Ashburnham and Westminster, which should allow officials in both towns to send the bills out on time. Westminster's tax rate for FY09 increased by a $1.06 over FY08 rate, so the new rate at $13 per thousand dollar of the property value.

Forbush Memorial announces information
      Due to the ice storm, and inclement weather, fines will not be charged for items that come due now through Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Forbush Memorial Library. The library announces the following hours for the holidays, Friday, Dec. 26, closed; Saturday, Dec. 27, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Dec. 30, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Westminster 2009 calendars now on sale
      The 2009 calendar by the Westminster Historical Society is now on sale. Entitled "Westminster Celebrates" it is the official calendar for the town of Westminster's anniversary year and is in full color for the first time. The calendar lists in red all the anniversary events planned for the year.

Getting ready to kick-off the 250th Anniversary celebration
      It's time to get the party started, or at least it will be in five days, as Westminster gets ready to kick-off the nine-month celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the incorporation of the town. On Wednesday, Dec. 31, there is a party at the Wachusett Mountain Ski Area for any and all Westminster residents.

Tickets Available
      New Year's Eve Event tickets, which will be sold at the door at the Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. The cost $5 and can be pre-bought at the Westminster Town Hall on South Street and Vincent's Market on Main Street. Those attending the party and hoping to ski can buy discounted ski lift tickets, which including the party will cost $40.
