Fitchburg Art Museum announces upcoming programs

The Fitchburg Art Museum has the following programs ongoing during the winter months.

Exercise programs

Get moving this winter with a yoga or "Chair Moves" class. Dorine Russo will teach "Yoga - All Levels" Thursdays, Jan. 24 through April 3, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Reap the health benefits of yoga while guided through warm-up postures, yogic breathing and relaxation. Cost is $110. Judith Lindstedt will teach "Chair Moves" Thursdays, Jan. 24 through Feb. 21, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Listen to music from the 1920s through 1950s and become more flexible while building strength, coordination and increased circulation. Includes sitting and standing exercises. Cost is $17.

Children's Saturday classes

Saturday classes for children will start on Jan. 26 and include "Pee Wee Picasso" for preschoolers, "Wacky Worlds" for ages 6 to 8 (draw, paint and sculpt imaginary animals), "Drawing and Painting" for ages 9 to 12, (basic skills for all levels) and "Teen Studio Time" for ages 13 to 17.

Carolyn Carter will teach "Beginning Drawing" Tuesdays, Jan. 29 through March 25, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Develop drawing skills using charcoal and pencil to explore contours, form, shading and compositions. Cost is $124. Alexander Farquharson will teach "Realistic Oil Painting" Wednesdays, Jan. 30 through March 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Working with still life and landscape themes, this class focuses on the techniques of oil painting and making things look real. All levels welcome. Cost is $170. Kate Pritchard will teach "Acrylic Painting - All levels" Tuesdays, Jan. 29 through March 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. Learn basic techniques and work from still-lifes, photos, and imagination. Cost is $124.
