Charles R. Aldrich, 82
Was avid golfer and skier, enjoyed small town living
WESTMINTER - Charles R. Aldrich, 82, of 92 West Main St., died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at the University of Massachusetts, Memorial Health Care University Campus, after an illness.
He was born in Worcester on July 11, 1925, the son of the late Charles and Inez (Flagg) Aldrich. He was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester and of Clark University with a Bachelors Degree in business. He had lived in Westminster since 1960.
Charlie worked for Exxon Mobil for 30 years in Everett.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Tech 4 Serving in Northern France during World War II.
Charlie was a member of the William S. Miller American Legion Post #174, First Congregational Church, the Westminster Friendship Club, the Westminster Historical Society, and was a Mason in the Gardner Lodge. He was an avid golfer, skier and world traveler and enjoyed gardening and small town living in Westminster.
He leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Eileen Aldrich of Westminster and Steven and Cheryl Aldrich of New Ipswich, N.H.; one daughter, Carol (Aldrich) Plourde of Maine; six grandchildren Lucas Aldrich and Olivia Aldrich both of Westminster, Heather Aldrich and Taylor Aldrich both of New Ipswich, N.H., and Jeannine Plourde and Allison Plourde both of Maine, and two great-grandchildren; his constant companion, Winfred Streeter Gutleber of Westminster; and his former wife, Marion (Swenson) Aldrich of Worcester. He was predeceased by his sister, Inez Hufnagel.
