Local students honored

Cushing Academy recently announced its academic and athletic honors for the 2007 fall term. To be awarded honors, students must be enrolled in four major courses and earn a grade point average of 85 or above for the term. Those earning high honors must also be enrolled in four major courses and earn a grade point average of 90 or above for the term. Additionally, each term, a select number of students is awarded a Letter of Commendation by vote of the faculty in recognition of their outstanding growth and dedicated commitment to their academic tasks

Students from Ashburnham earning honors: Kathryn Powers - High Honors, Varsity Letter: Soccer; Cole Bingham - Letter of Commendation; Christine Ducharme - Varsity Letter: Soccer; Ryan Gardner - Varsity Letter: Football; Mallorie Goguen - High Honors; Emma Jones - High Honors; Adriane Krul - High Honors, Varsity Letter: Volleyball; Brittany Mei - High Honors; Katie-Lynn Meola - Letter of Commendation, Varsity Letter: Field Hockey; Jeffrey Peopli - Honors, Varsity Letter: Soccer; Alison Troy - Letter of Commendation, Brian Troy - Honors, Varsity Letter: Soccer; and Molly Velasco - Honors.

Students from Westminster earning honors: Kate Coggeshall - Honors; Michael Dunn - Honors; and Matthew Tierney - Honors; Varsity Letter: Cross Country.

Founded in 1865, Cushing is an independent, college preparatory school for girls and boys in grades 9 through 12 and post-graduate.
