Parents to step up in response to teachers

To the Editor:

If you ask any eighth grader at Overlook Middle School what they can't wait for it would be the end of the year trip, graduation and the graduation dance. So when the eighth grade teachers chose those three activities, they knew what they where doing. They knew they would get a response.

That's fine, you're off the hook. The parents of the class of 2012 will take care of the end of the year activities.

For the past 12 years I have supported the teachers of the Ash-West Regional School District not just with my time but with my money. If the School Committee and the teachers came to an agreement resulting in any override vote I can tell you without hesitation I would have voted yes. However, when you decided to make one of my children a pawn in your negotiations, you crossed the line.

Our school district employees many amazing teachers that have gone well beyond the boundaries of their contract, I appreciate them and their commitment. I don't have any insight into negotiations nor do I want to. I only know what has been released to the media, which is limited. We have elected some of the best school committee members that this district has seen. I will leave the negotiations to them.

I am saddened by all that has transpired. My priority is my child, so if there is any other eighth grade parents that are willing to volunteer for end of the year activities please contact me at kimbramhall@comcast.net.
