Historical Society focuses on East Gardner State Hospital

The Westminster Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at society headquarters, 110 Main St. The focus of the meeting will be to gather information about the East Gardner State Hospital. Although the hospital buildings were located in the city of Gardner, more than a thousand acres of the grounds were located in Westminster.

The Historical Society is in the process of writing a history of Westminster covering the last 50 years, and the information gathered at this meeting will be critical for the book. If anyone is unable to come to the meeting but has information please contact Betsy Hannula at (978) 874-0430. The Society is also looking for photos of events held at the hospital. Meetings are open to the public and refreshments will be served following a short business meeting and this program.
