Edson John Ferrell, 93
Had a warm humor; abiding love for his family

ASHBURNHAM - Edson John Ferrell, 93, of Ashburnham, died at home Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, of natural causes.

Born in Agawam on Oct. 9, 1914, the son of Edson A. and Leona R. Ferrell, Edson graduated from Agawam High School in 1933. In 1937 he graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.S. in chemistry.

At the time of his retirement, he was National Director of Research and Development for Weyerhaeuser Company.

Edson will be remembered by family and friends for his warm humor, independent spirit, industrious work ethic, and his deep, abiding love for his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Hart Ferrell; his brother, Roy Ferrell; his sons, Edson Ferrell and Craig Ferrell; his grandchildren, Colin Ferrell, Daniel Ferrell, Evan Ferrell and Kathryn Selvitelli; and his great-grandchildren, Drew McLaughlin and Thomas McLaughlin. He was predeceased by his brother, Everett Ferrell and his grandson, Joshua Ferrell.

The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home directed arrangements.
